You can now replace the stock wimpy tie rod and drag link on your 1972-1986 Jeep® CJ with our Heavy-Duty Tie-Rod/Drag-link Kit. Manufactured from 1" O.D. x .219-wall DOM steel tubing, threaded on each end for 5/8 left and right rod ends, with wrench flats on each end. The rod ends are race-car quality, Teflon®/Kevlar® lined, self-lubricating and the alloy steel heat treated body is plated for durability. Rods will mount over or under the knuckles, and you must drill the stock tapered hole to a straight 5/8" hole.

Would it be acceptable to use a tie rod hole adapter instead of drilling the taper out of the steering knuckles?
No. Our Heim joing uses a 5/8" bolt and tapered hole is smaller than that.

What are the lengths of the drag link and tie rod?
The lengths are 43-1/4" and 27". Add 3" for your Heim joints

Original TRE and knuckle are tapered. What has to be done to the knuckle to accept the the new heavy duty ends?
You will need to drill out the end to 5/8" hole

My stock Drag link has an adjustment point in it. Is all of the adjustment in the MORE draglinks done through the ends?

Do your kits come with misalignment spacers ? Are they even needed?

Yes they do come with spacers and I would recomend them since it will get your hiem joints full articulation.

No. There is no welding required just drilling out a 5/8 hole
