2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Gen 3 Dual Battery System
Description
2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Gen 3 Dual Battery System
Power Hub
Take a deeper look at the GEN 3 Power Hub.
Bus Bars
Adding electrical accessories to your vehicle has never been easier! Devices connected to the bus bars run from the Aux battery and will not drain your cranking battery.
Three sizes of studs make it easy to connect heavy wires like winches, stereo amps, fuse boxes, and more. Smaller ring terminals can be connected to the #10 screws.
Boost Switch
- Auto – Connects the batteries automatically based on their voltage level.
- On – Manually connects the batteries together like jumper cables to help start the engine.
- Off – Manually separates the batteries.
G Screen Port
Plug in the optional G Screen Monitoring System with a single cable to keep an eye on your dual battery setup.
How It Works
The heart of the system is a smart battery combiner that automatically manages connecting and disconnecting the batteries.
When the engine starts, it charges the cranking battery first, then links both batteries in parallel so the alternator can charge them together.
Once voltage drops below ~12.7v for about a minute, the system separates the batteries. Accessories connected to the bus bars continue to run from the auxiliary battery without draining the cranking battery.
Smart Combiner Specs
- Rated for 300 amps continuous
- 500 amps for 5 minutes
- Up to 2,000 amps for 5 seconds
- Requires a minimum of 8 volts to operate
- Consumes no power when batteries are connected
- Generates no heat during operation
Battery Size Requirement
Matching Group 34 batteries are required. The Group 34R configuration is not compatible due to post orientation. Factory batteries are not compatible.
Bus Bar Sizes
Each bus bar includes:
- 3/8", 5/16", and 1/4" studs for heavy-gauge cables
- Three #10 screws for low-amp accessory ring terminals
Cable Size
This system uses 2ga, heavy-duty, high-strand-count, pure copper welding cable for maximum flexibility, conductivity, and durability. The lugs are pure copper, tin-plated to prevent corrosion, and sealed with adhesive-lined heat shrink for long-lasting performance.
Install Time
With basic tools, most people can install this kit in 2–3 hours by following the detailed installation video. Professional shops typically bill 2 hours for a stock vehicle installation. Additional time may be needed if aftermarket wiring needs to be rerouted to the new bus bars.
Compatibility
Fits all Jeep Wrangler JK models (2007–2018).
Includes an extension cable for relocating the evap solenoid on 2007–2011 models.
Engine Compatibility
- 2007–2011: 3.8L
- 2012–2018: 3.6L
- European diesel engines (left-hand drive only)
- Hemi engines: 5.7L, 6.1L, 6.4L
- LS engines including LS3
For Right-Hand Drive JK, use part number 131-JKDBK-RHDG3.
Power Add-On Compatibility
- RIPP Supercharger
- Prodigy Performance Turbo
- Magnuson Supercharger
- Sprintex Supercharger
Snorkel Compatibility
- Compatible: AEV, Rugged Ridge, Volant, ARB
