2018+ Gas Wrangler JL Gen 3 Dual Battery System
Description
Batteries Sold Separately: Group 25 Batteries Required
POWER HUB
Take a deeper look at the GEN 3 Power Hub.
Bus Bars
Adding electrical accessories to your vehicle has never been easier. Devices connected to the bus bars run from the auxiliary battery and will not drain your cranking battery.
- Three stud sizes for heavy-gauge connections such as winches, stereo amplifiers, and fuse boxes.
- Smaller #10 screws allow secure attachment of low-amp accessory ring terminals.
Boost Switch
- Auto – Automatically links the batteries based on voltage levels.
- On – Manually connects the batteries to assist with engine starting.
- Off – Manually separates the batteries.
G Screen Port
Easily plug in the optional G Screen Monitoring System using a single cable for real-time oversight of your dual battery system.
How It Works
The smart battery combiner automatically manages the charging and isolation of your batteries.
- When the engine starts, the system charges the cranking battery first.
- Once charged, the combiner links both batteries in parallel so the alternator charges them together.
- When voltage drops below approximately 12.7V for one minute, the system isolates the batteries.
Your accessories connected to the bus bars continue to operate from the auxiliary battery without draining the cranking battery.
Smart Combiner Specs
- Rated for 300 amps continuous.
- 500 amps for 5 minutes; up to 2,000 amps for 5 seconds.
- Requires a minimum of 8 volts to function.
- Consumes no power to keep batteries connected and generates no heat.
Battery Size Required
Matching Group 25 batteries are required. The factory battery is not compatible.
Bus Bar Sizes
- Positive and Negative bus bars include 3/8", 5/16", and 1/4" studs for high-amperage accessories.
- Three #10 screws support smaller gauge accessory wiring.
Cable Size
All battery cables are constructed from 2ga high-strand-count pure copper welding cable. This cable type is chosen for:
- Superior flexibility
- Higher conductivity
- Durable, abrasion-resistant jacket
The lugs are pure copper, tin-plated for corrosion resistance, and sealed with extra-thick adhesive-lined heat shrink for long-lasting performance.
Install
Most users can complete installation in 2–3 hours using common hand tools and our detailed installation video. Professional installers typically charge for two hours of labor on a stock vehicle. Additional time may be required if existing aftermarket wiring needs to be rerouted or cleaned up.
Compatibility
Fits Jeep Wrangler JL with the 3.6L or 2.0L Turbo engine, with or without eTorque. Also fits the 4XE model; securing a factory wire harness beneath the fuse box to the underside of the new steel battery tray may be necessary.
