Universal Power Hub
Description
Universal Power Hub
Need a dual battery system, but Genesis Offroad doesn’t make a kit specifically for your vehicle? No problem. The Universal Power Hub lets you easily install a remotely mounted dual battery system into almost any vehicle. All of the wiring and electrical work is already done — simply run the included cables from one side of the Power Hub to your cranking battery, and the cables from the other side to your accessory battery, and you’re ready to go.
Enjoy the same smart, automatic functionality found in Genesis Offroad Gen 3 dual battery systems, even if there isn’t a vehicle-specific tray kit for your rig. Pair the Universal Power Hub with Genesis adjustable battery brackets for a clean, easy installation.
Power Hub Overview
The GEN 3 Universal Power Hub is the heart of a fully featured dual battery system that can be mounted almost anywhere in your vehicle. It consolidates your high-current and low-current connections, automatic battery management, and monitoring into one compact, water-resistant unit.
Bus Bars
Adding electrical accessories has never been easier.
- Positive and negative bus bars for clean, organized wiring.
- Three heavy-duty studs in each bus bar for high-current accessories such as:
- Winch
- Stereo amplifiers
- Fuse boxes and power distribution blocks
- Air compressors
- Other high-draw accessories
- Multiple small screw terminals for low-amp accessories with smaller ring terminals, such as LED lights and electronics.
Boost Switch
The integrated three-position Boost Switch gives you full control over how the batteries are connected:
- Auto – The system automatically connects and disconnects the batteries based on voltage levels.
- On – Manually connects the batteries together, just like jumper cables, to help start the engine if the cranking battery is low.
- Off – Manually separates the batteries to keep them isolated.
G Screen Port
The Power Hub includes a dedicated port for the optional G Screen Monitoring System. Just plug in a single cable and you can monitor system status, see battery voltages, and control functions from inside the cab.
How It Works
At the center of the Universal Power Hub is a smart battery combiner that automatically manages the connection between the cranking and accessory batteries.
- When the engine starts, the system allows the alternator to recharge the cranking battery first.
- Once the cranking battery reaches a safe voltage, the combiner links both batteries in parallel so they can charge together.
- When system voltage drops below approximately 12.7V for about a minute, the combiner separates the batteries again.
All of your accessories connected to the bus bars will then draw power from the accessory battery only, helping to prevent your cranking battery from being drained so your vehicle always starts reliably.
Bus Bar Sizes
Both the positive and negative bus bars include a mix of heavy-duty studs and smaller screw terminals:
-
Stud sizes: 3/8", 5/16", and 1/4" diameter
- Ideal for heavy cables for winches, air compressors, fuse boxes, and other high-draw accessories.
-
Small terminals: Three #10 screws
- Perfect for smaller ring terminals and low amp accessories, such as LED lights and auxiliary electronics.
Cable Size & Length
The included battery cables are built from 2 AWG heavy-duty, high strand count, pure copper welding cable. Welding cable is chosen over standard battery cable because it is:
- More flexible for easier routing in tight engine bays and vehicle interiors.
- More conductive for better performance under load.
- Protected by a thicker, more abrasion-resistant jacket for superior durability.
The cable lugs are made from pure copper and tin-plated to improve conductivity and resist corrosion. Each connection is finished with an extra-thick, adhesive-lined heat-shrink sleeve, fully sealing the ends against moisture and the elements.
Cable lengths:
- Cranking battery positive: 13 ft
- Cranking battery negative: 48 in
- Accessory battery positive: 32 in
- Accessory battery negative: 32 in
Typical Install Time
Because this Universal Power Hub can be installed in many different vehicles and locations, actual install time will vary. In general, the process is:
- Choose a secure mounting location for the Power Hub.
- Run two cables to the cranking battery.
- Run the other two cables to the accessory battery.
All of the internal wiring and logic inside the Power Hub is pre-done at the factory. For most setups, a typical installation time is around 2 hours of labor.
Compatibility
- Compatible with any battery chemistry (AGM, flooded, lithium, etc.), as long as the cranking and accessory batteries are the same type.
Do not mix battery types (for example, AGM and lithium), as this will reduce the lifespan of both batteries. - Can be installed in virtually any application:
- Trucks and SUVs
- RVs and camper builds
- Boats and marine applications
- Heavy equipment and specialty vehicles
- The Power Hub is water-resistant and can be mounted in a wide variety of locations and orientations, including wet areas, as long as it is securely fastened.
Combine the Universal Power Hub with Genesis Offroad adjustable battery brackets and the optional G Screen Monitoring System for a complete, clean, and serviceable dual battery solution tailored to your unique build.
